Is it possible to turn off spellcheck completely?

If not, is it possible to add words to the dictionary? I'm surprised I couldn't find an answer by searching this site. I would have thought it was a common question.

Double click a wrong spelled word to select it, right click on it and there you have the options to disable spell check and adding words to the dictionary.
